Today's posts were brought to you by THREE different cameras (a first?). "It's my life, but it's boring."

when I took this pic I thought "I wish I could get out of these power
lines!" but now that I look at it I kinda like it-- there's so many!
You can make it mean whatever you want. I'd say it's a symbol of the
CITY being between you and the beautifulness, but I've got no beef
with being in the city. I like it here. A lot.
When I saw this plane I thought "that looks like a Widgeon" AND IT IS.
(I even looked up the N number to confirm)
It's a Grumman Widgeon (it's smaller than a Goose). Instead of
landing on floats, the bottom of the plane makes a hull and it's like
a boat with wings! It's way cool. I don't remember seeing this plane
before but I don't always pay attention. It circled Merrill Field a
few times this afternoon so I had a few chances for pictures.
Lovely, eh? Every morning this week, someone from the building
responsible for that big pile has spread some out on the pavement to
melt faster. And across Fireweed, the bank has melted enough to
finally expose a little sidewalk...
It's getting warmer up here... and before we can have a "spring" full
of flowers and leaves and baby animals we have BREAK UP. This is when
everything melts (except the storm sewers) and all the crap that ended
up in snow piles is magically exposed again. This is what my parking
lot at work looks like. Yep, that's a solid layer of pea gravel.
Spent some time on my car and on my bike tonight. I wasn't able to find
which light is out on the car (it's telling me one is out but I can't find
it-- it's pretty hard to do by yourself) but I did get the bike computer
working, adjusted the brakes, greased the chain and installed a new milk jug
fender. I'm a big fan of the milk jug fender. First of all, it's
effective. Second, it's durable. My last milk jug fender lasted almost a
year and through a Fairbanks winter (tested to -50, though there's not a big
need for fenders at that temp). The store-bought fender broke-- I couldn't
get it tight enough so it wouldn't bounce onto my wheel. Third, it only
costs a gallon (or half) of milk. And you get to drink the milk! I'm ready
for breakup!!!
this is a block I made tonight for a secret project... I did it with
paper piecing, which is kind of fun because you get these intricate
designs without having to measure and cut and line things up but also
very frustrating. I ripped a lot of seams tonight!
This is a shot from my drive to work last week. The days are getting
longer, you can feel the warmth of the sun on your skin... it felt
like spring last week but today we woke up to a bunch of new snow and
lots of wind-- not spring yet!
