Action Shot!
Riding home after work today. Stopped at Fred Meyer for dinner stuff
and then coasted down the soggy trails towards home.

sewing organizer
found a tutorial for this online... it holds my seam ripper, marker
and trimming scissors within reach but out of the way. The top is
weighted with rice and has some stuffing to make it a nice pincushion.
Latest project
I sewed this bag the other day. It's a pattern from Martha Stewart.
It was meant for pillowcases but I used some rainbow remnants. It's 2
triangles, sewn at the bottom. You tie the top so it makes a nice
shoulder bag or you can tie it a little tighter to make a little hobo
sack. I used it to carry home groceries and books today-- works
great! I am planning to make more. ;-)
good day
Friday was a good day... I ducked out of work a little early and
stopped by Moose's Tooth for a pizza and a growler. Finally figured
out a way to carry a pizza on the bike-- I posed the growler just for
the picture ;-)

new bike rack!
Just over a week ago I rode my bike to Fred Meyer's at lunchtime.
It's just across the seward highway from my office. I was annoyed
with the lack of a bike rack but I chained up to a handicap parking
sign instead. When I came back out, I twisted my ankle in some
cracked concrete, fell, scraped my knee and chipped the paint on the
bike. I was annoyed enough to march into the store (with the bike)
and tell them I was displeased with their lack of bike parking. A
week later and a fancy new rack bolted into the concrete! It made my
day-- I'm going to write them a letter!
pants
My new bike keeps mangling my pants! Glad I've got a sewing machine--
perhaps the extra mending will remind me to velcro them up before I
ride to work? (Also I should thank the MTU Alumni Association for
the lapel pin I had at work that kept me halfway presentable)

Campbell Creek
Campbell Creek as seen from the Campbell Creek Trail. Today I rode 23
miles along the C Street bike path, the Campbell Creek Trail, a quick
jaunt on the roads to the Coastal Trail and the Coastal Trail to the
Chester Creek Trail. Beautiful day for a long ride!
a picture for you
Craziest neighborhood garage sale EVER! There were cars lining every
road and a TON of sales. Bake sales, raffles (fundraisers for HS
sports), hot dogs, popcorn, even port-a-potties. Guess it's a yearly
thing-- there were so many people there!
long days...
Summer in Alaska is awesome! This is the view from my balcony at
12:30 am-- pretty sweet!

Packed and Ready!
Brian left tonight to fly to MI to pick up his new motorcycle and
bring 'er home to Alaska! It's an awesome adventure!
Over the River...
Dried out a little for the ride home-- It's getting so green! The
creek was high and murky so I couldn't see any fish.
Rain, danggit!
What a crappy morning for Bike to Work Day! I know a lot of people
who drove because of the weather. :-\

daily stop
Most days on my ride home from work I stop at one (or more!) of the
bridges to look for trout. Sure is a nice way to start and end the
day-- weaving in and out of the trees, over the river and under the
roads. Happy Bike to Work Day!

Spring at Ship Creek
Spring has sprung in Anchorage! The leaves are coming out and the
days are getting longer-- gotta dig out my sleep mask!
Ship Creek Trail
Brian and I took a look at the new Ship Creek Trail. There's this
massive bridge thing! One side goes over the train tracks and the
other goes over Ship Creek. They finished the trail last fall-- the
treated lumber bridge surfacing is still really stinky!

Mother's Day
Spent a little time today ichatting with the fam! We even got Marais
to make an appearance but this picture is my favorite. So many
smiles. Love you, Mum! You're the best!
Fisherman!
Brian fishing at Chester Creek. He called me on Friday to tell me he
was going fishing and to look for him along the trail. Those trout
are picky but lots of people are trying!

Newest addition!
This is my new bike. I hope to have many adventures with my new Kona
Dew! Walked out of the shop with the bike, a rack (they installed it
for me!) and a really huge, heavy lock! (Though she gets an indoor
parking spot here at home)

Happier times
The trusty steed leaned up against a snowbank. I can only hope
whoever stole it pawned it or sold it and someone is enjoying it...
sad sad day
This is the scene of the crime. My bike was gone, my lock was cut.
It's like losing a best friend... :'(
Good start
The "No Bad Days" coffee cabin is on my way to work. How could the day
be bad if it starts with a latte from these guys?!
