When I got home from church, I set my book down and went to change clothes. When I got back downstairs I found the dog had beaten me to my plan to settle in with a good book!

A construction DON'T
a mini-excavator and a plate compactor aren't normally the tools used
to drive pipe for bollards around a hydrant... They also tried
slamming the bucket down on the pipe but alas, they had to bring in a
tiny pile driver to get the job done.
Malaspina
Watched the ferry pull away in Haines. Jen, Meghan and Christoph were
on board! I had driven them down to Haines and then drove back on my
own.
Kluane
I've driven past Kluane Lake 3 times and every time it's been
spectacular. It's often windy around there but this day the lake was
still...

in a rain cloud
It was rainy and windy at the top. And when things started getting
more and more like rock climbing on rocks that were getting wetter and
muddier... we decided not to chance it. I think we were really close
so we don't feel too bad... better safe than sorry!

Hatcher Pass
Seems like everytime I'm here everything looks different. I really
need a macro lens-- I can't get enough of the sub-alpine (alpine?)
flora up here.
berry picking
Andrea and I were picking berries but Bentley found grass. Mmmm...
nothing like some refreshing grass when you're hiking. BTW we're
going back next week-- too early for blueberries.

Here's another shot, this one shows the new trail (since I'd been
there last) and a few people to get an idea of the scale...
Bear tracks
Saw these bear tracks on the beach and TONS of scat on the trail...
we made lots of noise and were happy to not see any bears!
50 feet?
Somewhere I had read that the elevation gain was only 50 feet on this
trail... But we were much higher than 50 above the water! Ooops!
Glacier
We hiked to the shores of this glacial lake. We were still pretty far
away but I had my superzoom lens!
