They say these guys are 18 inches apart! =-O I was pretty stoked to
get this shot-- even though I caught someone's head in the corner and
have no room to crop it-- this shot has no digital zoom! I'll have to
post a few on picasa so you can see them full size. I have one where
you can see the pilots' faces!

Diamond formation
Blue Angels
Taking pictures of very fast moving objects with a super-zoomed-in
lens was very difficult! I pretty much just panned the camera on
burst mode... took a lot of pictures today!
F-22 Power Loop
The F-22's are incredible! They kept saying they were doing the air show to "show the taxpayers what we can do." The F-22 is said to be head and shoulders over anything else out there for air combat.
F-22
The F-22's are my favorite! They did a F-22 demo and a joint forces demonstration
showing how the F-22's provide cover for the army helicopters to get
in and do what they need to do. They also did a "missing man"
formation for the guys who died in the C-17 crash on Wednesday.
Harrier
I thought the Harrier was awesome! It did a vertical take off and
landing and spent a good amount of time just hovering around, which
was way cool (how terrifying would that be?! What movie was it in
when it just peeked into the window?)
Snow Birds
Canada sent their Snow Birds to Arctic Thunder, the Elmendorf Air
Show. I guess they're "training" jets so they don't go fast (like the
Blue Angels) but they do a lot of really cool stuff anyway-- lots of
loops and cool formations.

best office ever!
This afternoon I got to see the Blue Angels rehearsing! Here they are
doing barrel rolls over the base. I love the view from my office!!!

F22's
Here are a pair of F-22's coming back into town. There was lots of
action on Elmendorf on Wednesday because they're having an airshow
this weekend. Unfortunately on Wednesday night a C-17 crashed and all
4 aboard were killed. Thursday was dang quiet on base. So...
special prayers for the families of those killed and everyone else
affected by the crash...
Blue Angel!
Tuesday I was minding my own business at work when the Blue Angels
came to town! They made quite an entrance-- flying low over town,
smoke on, buzzing the base before peeling off to line up to land.
Wednesday I brought my camera and saw this one going solo.

Independence Mine
"Those holes in the mountains will stay there and that's the only
monument that the miners will ever have, because they just wander off
the face of the earth. They'll go back into the ground just like the
buildings at the Independence. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust I guess,
the miners, the buildings, the whole darn thing. The only thing that
will be left will be the holes in the mountain that were burrowed in
by various people. The names won't be inscribed anywhere but the holes
will be there. It will be there for as long as that mountain lasts." -

hard workers!
My dad and Uncle Boyce have worked so hard on my house this week!
Here they are after they finished the floor. With their help (and
Mom's too) the floors got done, the walls were painted and the steps
to my deck were re-built! My house is looking so great! Thanks you
guys!

Otters
Here's a sea otter with a baby snuggled on top! We saw soooo many
otters when we were out on the boat! We got back today from our quick
trip to Homer. Thursday we went halibut fishing! I have so many
pictures to choose from-- much more to blog!
