Last night's show as seen from my front door!

more

more, originally uploaded by aimos325.

180 degrees from the last picture, looking towards town. The bottom
of the "curtains" were purple and it looked like it was coming right
at me! I can see them from my front door and am looking forward to
more picture opportunities. Next time I'll get them more in focus
(unlike this one!). It makes me feel like God said "yeah, it's cold
and miserable up there, I'll let them watch THIS."

whoa

whoa, originally uploaded by aimos325.

The lights stretched from east to west and were much brighter than in
this picture. (it's my first try at northern lights pictures, what
can ya do?)

cold

cold, originally uploaded by aimos325.

On my way back from class I saw the northern lights! So I made a pit
stop at Creamer's Field and snapped a few pictures. Next time I'll
bring mittens.

trees

trees, originally uploaded by aimos325.

The view from the office parking lot. That's the sun in the lower
right hand corner. At 1pm. Pretty low. But I think the scraggly
black spruce trees have a certain charm...

Bailey

Bailey, originally uploaded by aimos325.

Annie snatched up one of Tessa's puppies. This Bailey. She spends
the day in her kennel in Annie's truck (so she can have frequent potty
breaks!). She gets a lot of attention from the office.

Low sun, 3 pm. Welcome to winter.

frosty

frosty, originally uploaded by aimos325.

I sat in the car hoping the heat would come on so I wouldn't have to
scrape the windshield but it didn't work so good. Anyway, looks cold,
eh? It was about 10 degrees, which was warmer than -9, which is what
it was when I rode to work!!!

sky

sky, originally uploaded by aimos325.

I pulled out the camera to take a picture of the moon, but liked this
view better. There's something about the winter sky that makes me
smile... and makes me want to curl up inside, too!

me!

me!, originally uploaded by aimos325.

If I look cold, well, I wasn't. I was quite warm. The snow was deep
enough that my feet were dragging! The snow provides quite a bit of
resistance so I got a good workout today. You can see my wintertime
set up with my headlamp mounted on my helmet. Sun rise is about 8:45
these days and it won't be long before I'm riding home in the dark too.

studs

studs, originally uploaded by aimos325.

I love my studded tires! They're not very aggressive but they're
perfect for tooling around town and riding to work.

Creamer's Field

Creamer's Field, originally uploaded by aimos325.

Went out to Creamer's Field to take pictures but forgot it was a field
and there weren't many trees. Whoops.

more snow

more snow, originally uploaded by aimos325.

Woke up to 4-6" of new, fluffy snow. I had to take a ride!

Moose

Moose, originally uploaded by aimos325.

Had to go an hour south of here to check out some
utilidors last week. Never had to worry about moose on site visits
before! They were hanging around the utilidor manholes -- ahem, access
holes. (I think the Federal Highway Association is taking political
correctness a little too far)

leaving

leaving Kodiak and heading back towards the snow... (makes a good Era
advertisement!)

a given

a given, originally uploaded by aimos325.

of course I took off my shoes. The sand was moderately warm. The
water was cold!

ocean

ocean, originally uploaded by aimos325.

The ocean at Pasagshak. It was so beautiful. Even though it was just
off the road we felt like we had "discovered it" ourselves.

bear

bear, originally uploaded by aimos325.

Sunday we drove "out the road" towards Pasagshak. We saw a few bears
along the way.

Pillar Mountain

Brian and I at the top of Pillar Mountain. (thanks to Brian's self portrait skillz)

another ugly!

another ugly!, originally uploaded by aimos325.

Another ugly fish. They have huge mouths!

(just for the) halibut

Halibut!, originally uploaded by aimos325.

I caught a halibut! Just a small one, but it counts! I reeled it up
from the bottom of the ocean! Brian snapped this picture quick-- it
was heavy to hold up! Not to mention slimey and bloody... Brian was
nice enough to store it in his freezer (he'll bring it up to me
later). It was the only keeper of the day-- beginner's luck or am I a
natural? ;-)

Ugly Fish

Ugly Fish, originally uploaded by aimos325.

Brian and I caught a couple of these Irish Lords, affectionately known
as "ugly fish". (We threw them back)

Fishing

We went fishing with Brian's friend, Frank!

apron #2

apron #2, originally uploaded by aimos325.

Made this one while watching the VP debates. I have been finding some
pretty sweet remnants. ;-) I need more bias tape though-- I had to
fold and iron the green ties! Yuck!

apron #1

apron #1, originally uploaded by aimos325.

Made this a few nights ago. I still plan on adding some patch
pockets. I probably won't use it for cooking since I need a little
more coverage (I'm pretty messy) but it will be perfect for toting
scissors (ok, maybe not the best idea) and notions while sewing or
crafting.
