Seems like everytime I'm here everything looks different. I really
need a macro lens-- I can't get enough of the sub-alpine (alpine?)
flora up here.

Andrea and I were picking berries but Bentley found grass. Mmmm...
nothing like some refreshing grass when you're hiking. BTW we're
going back next week-- too early for blueberries.

Today we stopped in Seward on the way back and took a quick hike up to
Exit Glacier.

Saw these bear tracks on the beach and TONS of scat on the trail...
we made lots of noise and were happy to not see any bears!

Somewhere I had read that the elevation gain was only 50 feet on this
trail... But we were much higher than 50 above the water! Ooops!

Then we hiked up a hill... only to walk all the way down to the ocean
to get picked up!

The lake had some huge icebergs and some small ones we could touch too.

Glacier

We hiked to the shores of this glacial lake. We were still pretty far
away but I had my superzoom lens!

we made a special trip to a hand tram across a big, scary river. We
helped pull a few people across and then pulled ourselve across and
then back. It's quite a workout but was totally worth the extra 2
miles!

Hike

Took a water taxi across Katchemak Bay and then hiked to a different
pickup spot.

I didn't bring a camera (wierd, I know) but Erm was nice enough to
send along some pictures! It's been just about 10 yrs since we moved
into Good Intentions! Oh, and congrats to Rachel and Seth too!

Cool truck

Saw this cool old boom truck today. They were placing concrete rings
around the base of the piles they're using as light pole bases. I've
only ever seen poured concrete light pole bases.
