owl cookies!
Mom and Dad lovingly sent a batch of owl cookies and other halloween
goodies (and vitamin D). I think the 2nd best part of getting owl
cookies is the packaging! Seems like every year the parents try
something different-- it's not easy when the cookie is crumbly and you
don't want all the noses falling off! The first best part is eating
them, of course. ;-) Thanks guys!

Hatcher Pass
Friday Walt and I drove up towards Hatcher Pass. Up to the snow line!

Time Bandit
We saw the Time Bandit in the harbor and took a stroll past it...
Very exciting. We talked to some guys on the dock and they said the
King crab season opens in 2 weeks-- everyone's gearing up and getting
ready to head to Dutch Harbor in a few days.

Saturday before we picked up Mom and Dad we took a hike at Eklutna
Lake. It's so pretty there.

Mom and Walt
Mom and Walt in Seward. We went through the Sea Life Center and got
burritos before heading back to Anchorage.
Seldovia
We walked around Seldovia (though I'm not sure we can get mom to do it
again after she saw the bear cub!). It's a cute down with some places
on stilts (cool) and a nice bar. ;-)
Time Bandit
The fam (minus Matt) in Homer. We drove down on Sunday, explored on
Monday and drove back via Seward today. So much fun!

Airport changes
The new Terminal is so nice! Era flies out of here now. I'm hangin

Today I caught the 6:45 am (!) flight to Fairbanks. I had to check
out a job site about 2 hours south of town.

I stopped so many times! Just couldn't help it. Makes it even more
pretty when you had to sweat to get there! BTW, it snowed on those
mountains today. Gradually the snow line will get lower and lower...
Termination dust. Still can't see the snow from town but it's coming!
turn around point
I turned around shortly after this point. Made it to the end of the
lake. The trail got a little harder and I was tired and hungry.
Still, 16 miles isn't bad for my first mountain bike ride!
Eklutna Lake
I went out to Eklutna Lake today to ride the Lakeside Trail. I wanted
to try it because I heard it's a pretty tame trail and I've never
actually ridden a bike off of a road or a bike path. It was great! I
really enjoyed it. There were a few technical sections and l learned
(the hard way) the difference between the "ATV trail" and the "bike
trail." Turns out the ATV trail is more hilly, very steep and full of
cobbles and loose gravel. It was a struggle to PUSH the bike up some
parts! Needless to say I stuck to the bike trail the rest of the time
and it was great! AND SO PRETTY!
Beautiful ride!
Just heading home after an awesome ride! It was raining in town but
beautiful out at Eklutna lake. My first mountain bike ride!

Ship creek trail
Took the Chester Creek trail to the Coastal trail to the Ship Creek
trail tonight. Shew! Don't worry it wasn't too long. Nice night for
a ride. Took this on my iPhone-- they come geotagged and all.

Came home with this mermaid print today. I got it at the Katie
Sevigny Gallery. I love her paintings-- such great colors. (PS
please excuse the pukey wall color-- I'm just a renter!)

The alley behind our office. I loved the colors and the shapes of the
light reflecting off our building. Reminds me of being underwater.
new coffee place
not as good as No Bad Days but it still made me smile. The sticker
covered up the opening. Turns out I still don't like chocolate
covered espresso beans-- they taste good but then you feel like you've
just eaten a twig!

Colorful tees
A few colorful tee shirts I picked up this morning. I got an iPhone
last night so hopefully i'll do a bunch of blogging without having to
plug in the camera... Though the quality isn't the best it's quite
convenient!
