Michigan's oldest concrete pavement! Earlier in the semester, our pavement design prof. offered extra credit to anyone who could find it (that's why I put my initials on the bottom-- no cheating!). It is in Calumet.

Now that is some old concrete!

Checking out some real-life traffic control devices so we can make our own (half-scale)

Bonus shot for the day: an apple from our tree (looks lovely, eh?). Anyway, I turned the color down for this one, cause I thought it made the skin patterns show up better...

Omaha again, Eppley Airfield... From the food court window

Figured I'd be in it, but didn't know it'd be so clear! Anyway, this is in my hotel room in Omaha (it was soooo shiney)

John MacInnes Student Ice Arena-- packed at the MTU vs. NMU hockey game. Tech lost 2 to 1, but they gave a good fight (at the end). "That's alright, that's ok, you're gonna work for us someday!"

Rainy day here in Houghton... tonight: MTU vs. NMU hockey game!

This is from a few days ago... It's Lily, the puppy that lives at Chris's house!

The lights from Wal-Mart

Today was the grand opening of the Wal-Mart Food Center. I had to check it out, and so did the Monks from the Jampot (who woulda thunk they shop at Wal-Mart?)

A rainy night in Houghton... this is a picture of DQ, Taco Bell, even Econo and Shopko in the back (taken from the new Razorback Centre)

some birch trees at Redridge Dam

The Covered Road, doing what it does best... uh, covering.

I'm such a dork-- taking pictures of the 'burban! Actually though, I was playing with my star filter-- neat, huh?

New toys! (Top: from left: adapter ring (to attach things to the camera), telephoto and wide angle, bottom: 4 point star filter, soft filter, UV and polarizing filters)

new seating area at Kowsit Lats (comfy and sturdy too!)

The sunset lighting up the Quincy Mine

Sunset

across the back yard... it's been cold and blustery here! That was the first blue sky we've seen in days!

using my new wide angle lens! This was taken from the curb.

I used my .5x for this one... I'm not sure if it can work as a macro lens or not, either way, this is nice.

My first picture with my new 2x telephoto lens! (my total's at 6x now) Once I get the adapter ring, I won't have to HOLD IT ON and my pictures will be even clearer!

This is for Dad... See? No blue glow here. This was between flashes.

Monday, October 03, 2005

This is a picture I snapped a few minutes ago... it's heat lightning. I had to "enhance" the picture a little (that's why it's grainy), but I wanted to try and show what I was seeing.
