Today was the grand opening of the Wal-Mart Food Center. I had to check it out, and so did the Monks from the Jampot (who woulda thunk they shop at Wal-Mart?)
A rainy night in Houghton... this is a picture of DQ, Taco Bell, even Econo and Shopko in the back (taken from the new Razorback Centre)

The Covered Road, doing what it does best... uh, covering.
I'm such a dork-- taking pictures of the 'burban! Actually though, I was playing with my star filter-- neat, huh?
New toys! (Top: from left: adapter ring (to attach things to the camera), telephoto and wide angle, bottom: 4 point star filter, soft filter, UV and polarizing filters)

across the back yard... it's been cold and blustery here! That was the first blue sky we've seen in days!
using my new wide angle lens! This was taken from the curb.
I used my .5x for this one... I'm not sure if it can work as a macro lens or not, either way, this is nice.
My first picture with my new 2x telephoto lens! (my total's at 6x now) Once I get the adapter ring, I won't have to HOLD IT ON and my pictures will be even clearer!

This is for Dad... See? No blue glow here. This was between flashes.

This is a picture I snapped a few minutes ago... it's heat lightning. I had to "enhance" the picture a little (that's why it's grainy), but I wanted to try and show what I was seeing.

Katie, packing up after a looong hour of counting cars!
The view from our car-counting spot! We didn't feel like sitting between a retaining wall and 45 mph traffic, so we sat on top!
Fatigue cracking... Had to take a picture, since our homework (due Monday) is to take pictures of pavement distresses and write about them.
same stuff as the one below... For some reason I want to call them Milkweed, but I didn't think to open them up... anyone know for sure?
these caught my eye on the way to school... they looked really pretty in the morning light, but I was late so I couldn't stop.

my home away from home... (from the high dive)
So there's an empty lot (er, a few, it's almost a whole block) across from our house... So I went for a quick hike. Discovered why there were no houses too-- it's all rocks! Anyway, caught this view along the way.
Usually afraid of chipmunks, but this one was posing! What can I do?
lookin up a birch
ok, so I have this fascination with the tops of trees... no, not really. I do have a fascination with the contrast between the blue blue sky and the changing leaves...

look very closely at this picture....
THERE'S NO BLACK SPOT!
My camera came back today, and you will notice that the lower left-hand corner is as blue as the rest of the sky around it, and not black. Lots more pictures on the way!

What a humid and hazy day! This was taken less than 5 minutes ago... It's supposed to storm later I hear, but there are no big clouds, just overcast right now. (76 degrees and 69% humidity-- in the UP?!?!)
